Having completed a PhD in the field of paediatric exercise science, Mareesa has a keen interest in the health and well-being of preschool children and the physiological, social and emotional determinants of that state. Over the past five years as a researcher, Mareesa has developed project skills, including project initiation and management, project design, data gathering, qualitative and quantitative analysis, and reporting and dissemination of results. Mareesa has published in high impact journals including the International Journal of Behaviour, Nutrition and Physical Activity and the Journal of Physical Activity and Health. Mareesa has presented her research at 25+ national and international conferences. She is currently working on the evaluation of the National Early Years Access Initiative, which aims to improve the quality of early childhood care and education service delivery. Mareesa lectures on the B.Ed in early Childhood Studies at NUI Maynooth
